He/Him
Jose Ramirez Reyes is originally from Ayotlan, Jalisco. Jose began organizing during high school around environmental and racial justice issues. In 2017, Jose began his post-secondary education at the University of California, Merced. There, he helped to organize and mobilize students to push back against UC policies that would have been harmful to its primarily first-generation student population.

Jose has continued to work across various racial and social justice movements all over the country. He hopes to continue to build on the foundation of powerful leaders and organizers. Jose sees Basic Rights Oregon as a vital component in his journey as an organizer and values the work and impact that BRO has had in Oregon. Jose hopes to continue to work towards creating a world that values and celebrates our immutable traits and origins.
In his free time, Jose enjoys playing video games competitively. Jose also loves to spend time with his friends and family. He loves to watch movies with an affinity for reality TV, particularly the Real Housewives franchise.
