Student Leadership Call
Basic Rights Oregon invites students to our upcoming leadership call on January 28th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Join us as we share the upcoming work that BRO will be doing to protect Oregonian’s rights to reproductive freedom, gender affirming care, and ensuring marriage equality through our Equal Rights for All Campaign. Moreover, we will be sharing details about our student leadership program. This program will give students the opportunity to gain leadership and professional development skills to advocate for LGBTQIA2S+ rights in Oregon.
Statewide Action Summit: Our Stories Shape Our Future!
Our Statewide Action Summit is coming up! This is your chance to connect with other LGBTQ2SIA+ activists from across Oregon and learn new skills to fuel your advocacy. More info and RSVP here.
Movie Night for Basic Rights
Join Basic Rights Oregon for this FREE movie screening of the 1999 queer cult classic film, “But I’m a Cheerleader” starring Natasha Lyonne!
Doors will open at 3:30 for concessions, socializing, and a chance to create your own (very gay) pom-poms! We are inviting ALL AGES to this event, so please feel free to make this a full-family affair! (This movie is rated R, but Common Sense Media recommends it for ages 14 or older. Please decide for yourself if it’s appropriate for your children!)
Again this is a FREE event, however we are asking for a $15 to $25 donation per person. All revenue will go toward our work in Oregon to protect in advance LGBTQ+ rights!
Contact our Development Director, Auburn Marie, at auburn@basicrights.org with questions!
Bingo for BRO
Bingo for BRO Political Action Committee:
Help Us Elect LGBTQ2SIA+ Leaders!
Thursday, January 16, 2025 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM PT
The Sports Bra, 2512 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232
Come join Basic Rights Oregon's PAC for a fun-filled evening of Bingo with BRO! Over the last two years, Basic Rights has taken a larger focus on local elections work, particularly school boards. We know that local school board positions have become a battleground for anti-trans extremists to target our gender-diverse youth. Join us for Drag Bingo with Poison Waters, at the Sports Bra. We will have a signature cocktail and a raffle with proceeds going towards our elections work in the May 2025 election. $20-$25 suggested donation to play!

Fostering Pride (Virtual Event)
Join us on January 7th at 6pm to learn more about becoming a resource (foster) family dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA2S+ youth in foster care as well as information about understanding the unique needs of this population and the supports available to help them and their resource families. Youth with lived experience, resource families, and child welfare professionals will be present to speak on this topic and answer questions you may have. This session will be presented virtually via Zoom and you can participate from anywhere in Oregon.
